INTENTION
To open up more powerfully the Qi Gong within the Tai Chi practice. Qi Gong can be seen predominantly as a “Self-cultivation practice”; Tai Chi can also serve this but has the added benefit, through the practice of Push Hands, of preparing us to know how to interact with the world more skillfully.
Here are the topics we will cover:
Teaching 1) The inner landscape of the Bow Stance & The inner dynamics of Tai Chi walking.
We will look at especially when to apply “Kua Qi Gong”, plus its rotational element, within the movement of the Bow Stance. This involves a deep understanding of the timing of front/back, left/right, up/down application.
Effect: A more internal sense of moving energy from the lower Dan tien through the energy grid of the body.
Teaching 2) A double spiral White Crane Qi Gong practice executed in Bow Stance.
Effect: Learning to stimulate and harmonise the Left Pillar of the Nei Gong grid with the Right Pillar (and vice versa), from the lower Dan tien via the central channel. The possible healing benefits of this are many, for example, fusion of the Male/Female energetics, and enhancement of all relationship dynamics within the etheric field!
Teaching 3) Application of the above knowledge to the Push Hands Stance and movement.
This is integral to learning where to Give/Receive from.
Effect: To take all conflict/competitiveness or withdrawal/detachment, from the interaction with the other person. Engagement is essential to growth, we are seeking ‘Pliability’ within the movement from the ground up. A prerequisite for finding the point of transformation.
Teaching 4) Combining the above with the “White Crane Method”, through the arms.
Learning to feel the Tai ji energies of Yin and Yang.
Effect: Connecting lower Dan tien with middle Dan tien, learning and developing the way of the heart as we interact with others. Investing in loss.
Teaching 5) Apply all the above to Push Hands Practice with a partner.
Effect: Learning where you are at and awakening the humility to work from there.
